The IT Guy LabWorks:
Where Faults Get Hunted
This site is your entry point for repairs. A streamlined, professional repair process designed for accuracy, transparency, and results. Fill in the assessment form, get an estimate within 24 hours, and proceed through a clear, step-by-step repair process. Everything is standardised and transparent.
How the repair process works
You submit the assessment form on this site, providing your full name, contact details, device type and model, a detailed description of the fault and symptoms, and photos where applicable.
Our LabWorks engineer reviews your enquiry and carries out an initial assessment based on the information provided. The job is categorised, and an estimated repair cost and turnaround time are prepared.
Within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays), you will receive a response. If you accept the estimate, we will book you in for a device drop-off at a convenient time. Paid collection may also be offered at our discretion.
Once your device is dropped off, it is booked into our system and queued for inspection based on current workload and the agreed turnaround.
We then carry out a detailed diagnostic based on the fault described in your enquiry. This stage confirms or refines the initial estimate.
If the findings match the original estimate, we proceed with the repair.
If additional issues are discovered, or if the repair cost is likely to increase, we will contact you first. No further work will be carried out without your approval.
Your device is repaired using the most appropriate method for the case, whether component-level or modular repair. Parts may be ordered if required.
Once the repair is complete, the device is thoroughly tested to ensure the reported fault has been resolved.
You will be notified as soon as the repair is complete and the device is ready for collection.
Payment is made upon collection, unless agreed otherwise in advance. Your device is then returned to you with the applicable warranty.
Important Notes
- No work proceeds without your approval if costs change from the original estimate.
- "No fix – no fee" applies to the reported fault. If we cannot fix it, you will not be charged.
- Turnaround depends on the agreed repair category:
- Standard: 1–5 working days
- Complex: 5–14 working days
- Expedited: 1–3 working days (additional charge applies, subject to availability)
- Please note that the turnaround category may change after the initial diagnostic in our workshop. If this happens, you will be informed promptly. We will seek your approval before proceeding.
- Devices should be collected within 14 days of completion notification, unless agreed otherwise in advance.

Even if others have been unable to repair your device, there is still a strong chance we can.
We may offer collection and delivery at our discretion. This service typically costs between £10–£20 per trip, depending on distance.
However, drop-offs are strongly preferred.
Generally, no we do not offer free physical in our workshop assessments or diagnostics.
The purpose of the assessment form on this site is for the customer to provide detailed information about the job in advance. Based on that information, we will assess the case free of charge and a/ provide initial most likely diagnosis and b/ an estimated repair cost before any hardware is physically dropped off.
Before bringing in any device, the customer is expected to accept this minimum estimated repair fee.
However, if after detailed, physical assessment in our workshop we find that the repair cost is likely to be higher than originally estimated, we will inform the customer immediately. No further work will proceed without the customer's approval.
If the customer decides to withdraw the job at that stage due to the higher-than-estimated repair cost, no charge will be made.
No — our estimates are fixed and reflect the time, expertise, and parts required to carry out the repair to our standard, as well as including warranty cover.
